Yan Chai Old Age Allowance Donation Scheme

Yan Chai Hospital is now launching the Yan Chai Old Age Allowance Donation Scheme, appealing to the affluent Hong Kong residents aged 70 or above to show love and care by donating all or part of the amount from the old age allowance that they are entitled to. Donations will go to Yan Chai Various Services Fund for charity purposes to support the poor and the disadvantaged groups.

The Old Age Allowance is one of the social welfare schemes launched by the Social Welfare Department. The scheme provides monthly cash allowances to Hong Kong residents aged 70 or above and no means test for the applicants.  Since 1 February, 2021, the monthly allowance is $1,475. This project is a continuous fundraising scheme that furnishes a stable source of donation income to Yan Chai Hospital. It is therefore that all the support and participation are very important.

How to apply for Old Age Allowance?

An Old Age Allowance applicant or his/her relative/friend can make an application directly with a social security field unit near to his/her place of residence by phone, by fax, by e-mail, by post or in person. An applicant may also be made through referral to SWD by another government department or a non-governmental organization. The applicant can also download the "Social Security Allowance Scheme Application Form" from SWD’s website (http://www.swd.gov.hk) and return the completed form together with the photocopies of relevant supporting documents to the Social Security Field Unit by post or in person. As soon as an application is received, an officer of the SWD will make arrangements for an interview with the applicant. After completion of investigation, a formal notification letter will be sent to the applicant.
